Elizabeth Marie "Dede" McCaffery Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing Elizabeth "Dede" Stafford McCaffery, affectionately known as "Gammy." She left us on February 23, 2024, at the age of 71, after bravely facing brain cancer. Her legacy is one of enduring love and selflessness that touched the lives of many.

Dede is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Joe McCaffery, who stood by her side throughout their shared journey. Her love was a source of strength and joy in their life together.

Dede grew up in Pennsville, New Jersey, and graduated from St. James High School in 1971. The beloved daughter of Betty and Ernest Stafford, she was a dedicated sister to Ernie Stafford (Kathy), Margaret Oliver, Patty Ruggieri ( Alex ), Eddie Stafford ( Amy) , and the late Judi Marvel (Craig). Dede never forgot a birthday, making each niece and nephew feel truly special. We find comfort knowing she's reunited with her mom and sister in heaven.

Dede loved working at Superfresh, where she shared stories with colleagues and treats to brighten the days of many kids. Yet, her most cherished role was being an amazing mom to her four daughters: Bridgett (Mike) , Colleen( Rich), Bernadette, and Caitlin (Gerren). Her nurturing love shaped their lives, creating an everlasting family bond.

Known as "Gammy" to her 12 grandchildren, including Aidan , Liam, Donovan, Joey, Phoenix, Judi, Phoebe, Jaida, Trey, Landon, Kenzie, and the newest addition, Mila each held a special place in her heart. She spoiled them with affection and devoted herself to creating joy in their lives, making each grandchild feel uniquely treasured and adored.

Dede found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially at the beach or wherever her family gathered. Her enduring legacy echoes through the numerous lives she touched, always ready to set everything aside to bring a smile through her boundless love and devotion. Dede's deep love for Jesus was evident in her frequent prayers, marking her unwavering faith as a source of comfort and strength for those around her.

Dede radiated kindness, generously giving her time to volunteer at Meals on Wheels. She embodied compassion by always being the first to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, or treat others to a plate of her famous chocolate chip cookies.

In lieu of meals to her husband Joe, please consider donating a meal to "Meals on Wheels" in Dede's honor.

Her memory will forever inspire us to embrace love and generosity in our own lives.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday March 2nd at the St. Gabriel Parish/Corpus Christi Church, Burial will be private.
