Edgar Raymond Davis Obituary

Edgar Raymond Davis (Ed), aged 71, died of a heart attack at his home in North East, Maryland on February 15, 2024.

Ed is a graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School, class of 1970. He was often called "Eddie" or Fast Eddie" by his friends. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather to his daughters and grandsons whom he spoke of often. He was an automotive enthusiast from his early youth and spent many weekends at the drag racing events as a spectator and later as a participant, racing one of his many cars. As a father, he enjoyed taking his daughters to the drag strip. He was fun loving and enjoyed flirting and teasing. He always did his utmost to provide for his two girls. When they were young they loved hearing stories of their father's antics as a youth, his racing, and his exploits. Ed was owner/operator of Young's Body Shop in Penns Grove, New Jersey prior to retiring on disability from a work related accident. He spent his later years in North East, Maryland where he enjoyed visits with his grandsons who lit up his life and watching as many races as time would allow.

Ed will be sorely missed by his daughters Nikki Davis (Phil) of North East, Maryland and Brooke Lugaro (Peter) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; his grandsons Gabrielle (Gabe) and Joseph (Joey); his brother William E. Davis III (Nancy) of Wellington, Ohio and nephew William E. Davis IV of Cincinnati, Ohio

He is preceded in death by his son, Tee Jee' Davis (1980), his father William E. Davis Jr. (1963), and his mother Mary H. Davis Wood (1979).

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday February 21st at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown, NJ.
