Stewart A. Cross passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, surrounded by his family, at the Veterans Home of Vineland. Stewart was 91 years old. He was the son of Stewart and Katherine Cross (Bitterlich). Born in Germantown, PA, on March 10, 1932, Stew, as he was known to most, was a long-time resident of Pennsville, NJ. He earned his GED from Salem High School after enlisting in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving from 1950 – 1954 in the Korean conflict, "The Forgotten War."

Stew is survived by his daughter, Diana Lynne Little (Steve); sons, David and Dale Cross (Kathy), all of Pennsville. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Brady Little (Shannon), Kyle Cross (Natalie) and Brandon Cross (Jordan). Additionally, his three great grandchildren, Brady, Olivia and Alaina Little.

He is pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Valarie, sister Judith Dawson, brother Raymond Cross, granddaughter Gabrielle Cross, grandson Stephen (Sonny) Little, Jr. and daughter-in-law Bobbie.

Stew was extremely proud of his military service and a lifetime auxiliary member of VFW Post 1952. He could always be found at all veteran and military events, sporting his navy dungarees and his dixie cup.

A lifelong pipefitter, he enjoyed working in his backyard wood shop, creating keepsakes for those that did a favor or showed him (or his family) kindness. He always had a horn beep, a wave and/or a smile for all that he came in contact with… he truly loved life and will continue to be loved and missed by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Sunday, December 31st at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville, where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Pilesgrove, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Pennsville VFW Post 1952.
