Joyce W. Ecret (Downs)

Joyce W. Ecret (Downs), also known as 'Mama Joyce,' of Pennsville, met the lord peacefully at Inspira Mullica Hill Hospital, on Tuesday September 26th, 2023 at the age of 78. Born February 6th, in Woodbury, NJ. She was the daughter of late Jack Downs and Gladys Pancoast (Sparks) and stepfather, Joseph K. Sparks. Predeceased by her husband, James J. Ecret Sr (Big Jim).

Joyce was an active member of Pennsville township where she retired from driving the school bus for 35 years and later drove the senior bus for Pennsville residents. Member of the First Baptist Church in Woodstown, NJ.

When not driving the bus, she enjoyed playing softball and volleyball. Craft shows, with her late husband Jim, was always where you found her during the fall. She enjoyed family time, always had little dog by her side and always had something cooking in the kitchen.

Survived by her daughters, Laura M. Smith (Patrick) and Pearl Labriola. Stepchildren, Angela Wygor (Stan), Sherry DiMenna (Joe), James Ecret Jr. (Joyce). She was blessed with several grandchildren, along with numerous great grandchildren. Predeceased by her brother Doug Downs and Step Brother Jodi Sparks.

Funeral services will be held 8:30 PM on Monday October 2nd at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville, NJ where friends may call from 7:00 to 8:30 prior to the service. Private burial will at the First Baptist Cemetery Church, Woodstown, NJ
