William A. Hyde Obituary

William A. Hyde, age 84, passed into eternal life on September 1, 2023, at Merion Gardens Assisted Living, Carneys Point NJ. Bill was born in Abington PA to the late Wister U. and Leona (Schleich) Hyde. He was a 1957 graduate of Cheltenham PA High School and graduated from Millersville PA University in 1961. He married Caroline (Davis) Hyde, October 7, 1961 in Danville PA. They settled in Pennsville NJ, where they happily resided for nearly 62 years. Bill was an Industrial Arts instructor in the Pennsville School District for 33 years, retiring in 1994. He was a charter member of the Lutheran Church of St. Ambrose in Pennsville where he actively served on church council and volunteered for maintenance projects throughout the years. He was assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 86.

Bill worked many years building and remodeling homes with local contractors. He enjoyed radio-controlled flying, sailing on the Chesapeake, and excelled at carving decorative duck decoys. He and Caroline began camping with their young sons, traveling throughout the US and Canada.

Following retirement, he and Caroline were snowbirds for 20 years in Dunedin, Florida. They traveled to Europe several times and enjoyed cruises throughout Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, and the Caribbean, including Cuba.

In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased by his sister, Elaine (Hyde) Milke, brother-in-law, James Milke and daughter-in-law Michele (Traynham) Hyde. He is survived by his beloved wife, Caroline;

Sons, William W Hyde (Julia) of Port Deposit MD; Stephen F Hyde, Mt, Ephraim NJ. Grandchildren,

Kristen (Hyde) Delva (Gregory), Jeffrey Hyde and Shannon Hyde; Nephew, James Milke; Also sisters-in-law, Barbara Henry, Beverly Stiner and their families; great-grandchild due in October.

The family wishes to express deep appreciation to all of the dedicated health care workers who attended to Bill during his illness.

Funeral service will be held at the Lutheran Church of St. Ambrose, 443 S. Broadway, Pennsville NJ, Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown NJ.

Family will provide flowers. Donations may be made to Memorial Fund, Lutheran Church of St.

Ambrose, or charity of donor's choice.
