Hiram F. Tucker Obituary

Hiram Frederick Tucker, 80, of Pennsville, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 26, 2023 surrounded by his family. Fred was born in 1942 in Grafton, WV and moved to South Jersey in 1962 where he met his beloved wife of 55 years, Carol (Benner) Tucker. He served in the US Army from 1964 to 1966. Fred was a Supervisor at DuPont Chambers Works for 34 years, retiring in 2001.

Fred was a devoted and loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known as Poppy to far more than just family. You could always count on him for a joke or a laugh. He enjoyed reading, spending time tending to his yard and flowers, was always willing to lend a helping hand, could fix (or rig) anything, gave countless rides to and from the airport, and could often be found comfortably taking a nap in his chair with his cat, Max or in a Boscov's furniture department while waiting for Carol to shop.

Fred was predeceased by his father, Hiram Lee and mother, Hazel (Hamilton) Tucker. He is survived by his wife Carol, daughters Michele Rosini (Marc) and Megan Knestrick (Bill) and brother Joseph Tucker (Brenda). He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Luciana DiSantis (Anthony), Vincenzo Abbonizio (Gabrielle), Alex and Adam Knestrick and great-granddaughter Sutton Disantis. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws Joan Robertson and Beverly Quann (Richard) and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held Monday, January 30, 2023 at 12:00pm at Laughery Funeral Home in Pennsville. Friends and family may call 11:00am to 12:00pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown, NJ.
