Robert E. Laughrey, age 85 of Pennsville died Wednesday September 28, 2011 at the Christiana Hospital. He was born in Camden and was the son of the late John D. and Marion Stiles Laughrey. Following graduation from Haddonfield High School he served his country in the Navy (Pacific Theater) during WWII. In 1950 he opened the doors of the Laughrey Funeral Home and for 61 years he played an active role in the family business along with his son John and grandson Robert. He always said "Pennsville was good to him and he was good for Pennsville". He enjoyed life and fishing was his passion along with duck hunting and golfing. Bob was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Pennsville, charter member and past president and Paul Harris Fellow of the Pennsville Rotary, and member of the Sakima Country Club for many years. Survived by his daughter Katharine A. Moore and her husband Leonard and John D. Laughrey and his wife Deborah of Pennsville, sister, Ann Laughrey Rohrer and her husband Mark, grandchildren, Eric A. Moore and his wife Debbie and Dr. John O. Moore, Robert W. Laughrey and his wife Christine and Amy M. McGovern and her husband Daniel, great grandsons John Patrick Laughrey and Matthew Moore. Predeceased by his wife of 52 years Margaret Stephens Laughrey in 2001. Friends are invited to celebrate the life of a good man on Sunday Oct. 2 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville. Burial will be at the Scottdale Cemetery in Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Pennsville Visiting Nurses Association, 14 N. Broadway, Pennsville; the Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund 75 S. Broadway, Pennsville; or the Pennsville Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 406, Pennsville NJ 08070.
