Obituary of Timothy J. Bates

Timothy J. Bates Sr. Of Pennsville, NJ, passed away at home on May 10th, 2022 surrounded by his closest family, friends and beloved dogs after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Baltimore, MD on October 10, 1950, Tim moved to Pennsville in 1958, where he resided for the last 64 years. Tim was so proud to have served our country, his proudest honor as he was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War with the 4th Infantry also with the 25th American division from 1969-1971. Tim was always an avid outdoorsman who loved to go fishing and crabbing and just being with his dogs, Chip and Sabbeth. He loved a good BBQ and being surrounded with his close friends and family. He was a very entertaining character who you could never forget, be it his quirky remarks or dry sense of humor, he was bound to leave a lasting impression on everyone he crossed paths with. But, through his thick exterior, there was a man willing to do anything for anyone. Tim was someone who would give you the shirt off his back no questions asked. But more than anything, Tim loved his 3 grandchildren, Avery and Emma Bates and Sonny Taylor. You could never see a man more proud then when his grandkids were by his side! Tim is survived by son Timothy J. Bates II, daughter Rebecca (Bates) Taylor, sister Blanche Bates of Baltimore and Grandchildren Avery J. Bates, Sonny Taylor, and Emma Marie Bates. Tim is predeceased by his mother, Lorraine (Cummins) and Vito J. Marcantonio, his father Charles"Tibby" and Rose Bates of Baltimore, Brothers Tibby and Ray Bates and Vito J. Marcantonio Jr. and sister, Gina Haldeman of Pennsville. Graveside Services will be held at the Finns Point National Cemetery on May 20th at 1:00PM. There is limited Parking at the facility.
