Please share a memory of Franklin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Franklin W. "Frankie" Mahala, age 82 of Pennsville, NJ died Wednesday March 9, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Bridgeton, NJ to the late Charles J. Yanush and Anna H. Mahala. Frankie was a longtime Pennsville resident. He was a former Salem Bridge Operator, a former firefighter with the North Bend Fire Company, 18-wheeler moving company coast to coast and retired from the Pennsville Township Maintenance Department in 2000. Frankie was a man who really lived life, but on his own terms. He enjoyed cutting grass so much that he needed a new mower every other year. He would say, "something to do". An that's what he did. a matter fact, my daughters' earliest memories of Frank are the sound and sight of him out there mowing. She would be next door visiting her Nan and Pop pop's and he never missed a beat. To this day, hearing his neighbors watering their lawn brings back a nostalgic feeling. When 4:00 PM came around Frank would hop on his bicycle, stop a Rachel's for his lottery tickets, oh Boy, talk about lucky. He would "Win big!!" a lot. From there he headed to his favorite Hangout spot to send time with his "Crew". He really loved his time with them. Afterwards, it was back on the bicycle heading home to spend time with his roommate Skeeter the cat. He winded his day down at 7:00 PM and went to bed. Very set in his ways "LOL". Talk about stubborn and set in his ways, Frank never forgot a thing. Don't dare tell him you're going to do something or set a time, and not do it or be late. Ask Don, LOL. Some of my fondest memories were the times I wasn't recruited to help Don do various tasks around the house, I would sit and chat with him and he'd always say, "I know what you mean" or when I'd come in the house, and he'd give me a little gift-like a pen or flashlight. It always touched me because I felt it was his way of thanking me for helping his out. And his way of showing appreciation for the bond we built. Frankie, we will miss you, Love your family and friends. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
