Joseph M. DiSylvestro, Sr. age 88 of Pennsville died Wednesday September 14, 2011 at the Christiana Hospital. He was born in Penns Grove, and was the son of the late Augustiono and Bettina DePalao Sylvestro. Joe was a lifelong Salem County resident. He was employed as a painter for the DuPont Chambers Works, Deepwater where he retired following 34 years service he also worked as a butcher for 25 years and worked for Pennsville Recreation Department following his retirement from DuPont. He was a WWII Navy Veteran serving in the European Theater. Member of the Queen of the Apostles Church, Pennsville. Survived by his children, Joseph M. DiSylvestro and wife Barbara of Mantua, Donna M. Rudy and husband Dan of Pennsville, Genine C. McCann and husband Robert of Pennsville, Carmen A. DiSylvestro and wife Ann of Salisbury, MD, and Andrea D. Zarin and Husband Ray of Alloway, sisters, Sue Scarfo , Angie Gioia, Louise Arcidiacono, Edith Frabasile, Josephine DiBartolo, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandson. Predeceased by his wife Rose Marie Martello DiSylvestro (2002), brothers, August, Anthony, Vito, Thomas, and Frank, and a sister, Lena Picchi. A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday Sept. 20, at the St. Gabriel the Archangel, 369 Georgetown Rd., Carneys Point, NJ where friends may call 4:00 to 5:00 PM prior to the Mass. Burial will be Private. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital PO Box 50 Memphis TN 38101.
