Obituary of Joan R. Labriola

Joan Rachel Labriola, age 87 of Pennsville, New Jersey, sadly passed away on September 3, 2021. Joan was born on July 4th, 1934 in Somers Point, New Jersey to the late Paul and Rachel (Strickland) Berry. She was an extremely gifted student and all-star athlete at Salem High School. She continued her education graduating from Goldey-Beacom College, Wilmington Delaware. Joan met and married the love of her life Anthony Labriola. They lived happily married for 66 years. She was a devoted employee of Pennsville Board of Education, where she worked as a Pennsville Memorial High School Vice Principal secretary and then as a Central Park Elementary School Principal secretary for 19 years. She was active and well known by all at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Joan was a loyal family woman who was quiet and stern, but once you got to know her you loved her. She genuinely loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them most of all. She also enjoyed cooking Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, and Sunday Dinners for family, and friends. She was devoted to those she cared for and could be found at her son's high school wrestling matches, grand-kid's baseball games, and mini wrestling matches. Joan will be dearly missed by all who loved her. In addition to her mother and father (Paul and Rachel Berry), Joan was preceded in death by her brother Paul Berry Jr, sister Clara J (Berry) Ogas, her husband Anthony Labriola, and her great grandchild Cash Wdzieczkowski. Joan is survived by her loving daughter Denise Labriola; her two son's Anthony Labriola (Donna) and David Labriola (Cynthia); 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. The viewing for friends and family will be held on Wednesday morning, September 8th, 2021 from 10-11AM, funeral service to follow, at Laughrey Funeral Home (1 North Broadway, Pennsville NJ). Burial will be held following the service at Salem County Veterans Cemetery in Pilesgrove. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Joan's memory to "Trinity United Methodist Church" and sent to Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund at 67 South Broadway P.O.
