Obituary of Betsey W. Salberg

Betsey W. Salberg, age 83, of Garnet Valley, Pa. died Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Friends Village at Woodstown, NJ from complications of a stroke. Born in Philadelphia, PA, and daughter to the late George and Marion C. Walker; Mrs. Salberg had been a longtime Pennsville resident. She was a graduate of Swedesboro High School in 1955, and Beaver College in 1959. She taught physical education and health at Pennsville Memorial High School 1959-1992 and was the Head Field Hockey Coach 1962-1982. During her 20-year career, she, and her sister -in-law, Jackie DiMarzio, helped the teams achieve 5 Tri-County Championships and were the 1982 undefeated Group 2 State Championship. She was named the 1982 Field Hockey Coach of the Year and honored by induction into both the Pennsville Athletic Hall of Fame and the Salem County Sports Hall of Fame. Betsey was predeceased by her husband of 43 years David L. Salberg and her sister-in-law Jackie DiMarzio. She is survived by her son, David W. Salberg, and his wife, Valerie, and grandson Jake Walker of Beachwood NJ. She will be missed by family, Nonies, and many friends. Betsey's wishes were for private arrangements at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing or services.
