John Robert O'Brien, of Pennsville, N.J., age 68 passed away Sunday February 26th at his home, following a long illness surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Salem, NJ, he was the son of John and Dorothy Cole O'Brien. John is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Andrea March O'Brien, two sons and daughter in laws, Michael and Bridgett and Matthew and Sally, seven grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan, Aidan, Liam, Donovan, Peyton and Mason, sister Joni, several nieces and nephews and friends who became family. Predeceased by his parents and brother Kenneth and sister Lucille. A veteran of the Vietnam War where he served with the 11th Armored Calvary, Blackhorse Regiment, serving 14 months in country. Upon his return, John work briefly for National Lead, and 32 years for Pennsville Water Department and spent many evenings at Lou's Body Shop. John loved cars, his trucks, Dale Earnhardt but mostly his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and his sons coach. Known for his smile, wave and quick wit. He enjoyed his home away from home Chincoteague, Va and the great meals he enjoyed at Bill's Prime. A viewing will take place on Saturday, March 4th at The Queen of Apostles Church from 9:30 am to 12:30 am, with service to follow visitation. Burial will be at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery.
