James L. Tanyer, age 78 of Pennsville, died Tuesday December, 27, 2016 at the home of his longtime companion and care giver Florence Baker. He was born in Penns Grove, NJ and was the son of the late Fred and Mary Dillon Tanyer. Jim was a lifelong Salem County resident. He was employed as an operating engineer for the IUOE Local 542 Fort Washington, PA where he retired in 1999. He was a member and past master of the Penns Grove Masonic Lodge No 54 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of Collingswood, EMT for the Pennsville Fire & Rescue Co. No. 1, member and former chairman for the Pennsville Zoning Board, member of the Pennsville Democratic Club. He was a dedicated volunteer for the Pennsville Little League and coached and umpired for the boys and girls leagues. Survived by wife, Joyce E. Tanyer, of Pennsville, children, Robert D. Tanyer and his wife Lisa of Carneys Point, Robin Parente of Pennsville, Melissa Tanyer Parente and husband Rich of Pennsville, grandchildren, James, Cory, Bake, and Megan Tanyer, 7 great grandchildren, Florence Bakers children, Bobby and Joe Doak, his faithful canine companion, Abby Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
