Sandra Baccile Obituary December 17. 2023 Sandra Kay Baccile (nee Smith) transitioned peacefully in her home on December 17, 2023 with her loving husband, daughter and granddaughter by her side. Having lived in Pennsville since early childhood, there are few doors in town that you can walk through where someone on the other side doesn't know Sandra. Over the course of 87 years, her thoughtfulness and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless individuals, and we are all the better for it. Sandra is and was many things to many people: a wife, mother of two, grandmother of five and great grandmother of 11; a genuine friend and wise mentor; a neighbor who always had a kind word for you, and a fully committed disciple of Jesus Christ. Sandra grew up on William Penn Avenue with her parents, Lawrence C. and Anna May Smith, and her younger sister, Nancy. At 10 years old, she and the other neighborhood kids put on a parade to celebrate the end of World War II. As a teen, she roller skated every Friday night with friends at the Riverview Beach Amusement Park. Sandra later attended nursing school and worked at the Delaware Hospital. She was living in Wilmington briefly when she visited Pennsville and was introduced to her future husband, Peter Baccile. On their first date, he told her he wanted to marry her someday and in 1960 they did just that, enjoying 64 years together. After raising their children and retiring, Sandra and Peter traveled across America and Europe. They also volunteered with Meals on Wheels for over 30 years. Their commitment, support, and love for one another is admired by all who know them. Sandra's life was an embodiment of the commandments - love God and love others. She was a dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church throughout her entire life, leading a women's bible study there for over 37 years. She was also a long time member of the Joy Club and faithfully updated the church's prayer chain each week, ensuring no one was ever forgotten. Whether at church, at home, or out in the community, she intercede daily for the needs of others. Sandra was filled with "loads of love" and was the leader of our family's mutual admiration society. She attended every sporting event, concert, and play that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in until she was physically unable. Nothing could ever be written about Sandra that could begin to accurately describe what it was like to know and love her, and to be loved by her. The hundreds of cards, visits and Christmas carols she received during her illness are a testament to that. Sandra's family is eternally grateful for the gift of sharing so many wonderful years and memories with her. She is survived by her husband, Peter Baccile; her children Pat Bagley (Jamie) and Peter M. Baccile (Robin); her grandchildren Jessica Cassidy, Andrew Bagley, Daniel Bagley (Kate), Jonathan Bagley (Amber), Kylee Vazquez (Christopher); and her great-grandchildren Jonathan, Jesslynn, Isaiah, Zion, Evie, Micah, Luella, Arya, Eliza, Easton, and Layla. Sandra's service will be held at 10 am on December 28, with visitation from 9 - 10 am, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 67 S. Broadway, Pennsville NJ 08070. Burial will follow at Lawnside Cemetery in Woodstown, NJ. Sandra's family would like to express gratitude for all of the prayers and support given by friends and family during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice and Trinity United Methodist Church.
