Obituary of Joan Ann Hay

Joan Ann Hay passed away on May 28, 2020. She was born in Philadelphia on September 8, 1938. Joan spent her teen summers in Ocean City, NJ. She graduated from Germantown High in Philadelphia and went on to get and Associates degree in Drafting from Temple University. She worked in various printing jobs doing drafting work, and even owned a video store at one time before she retired. Joan was an artist. She could draw anything. Her last works of art are her amazing paper cuttings of various lighthouses from around the country. There was no end to her love of music. She collected 45 rpm records from the 50's which led to her never ending collection of CDs. She loved going the shore and spending time in Ocean City and Sea Isle, where she had a summer place for many years. Joan spent her last 20 years in Pennsville, NJ. She always enjoyed visiting with her many friends and tried to always keep in touch. Joan had a way of cutting out the crap and saying it like it was. She liked doing things her way and being independent. Her car…She loved the freedom of getting in and going where she wanted when she wanted. She was always ready to play cards and games. And how she loved donuts for breakfast! Joan was preceded in death by her only son Kevin Hay in 1981 and her parents, Richard W. Oberholtzer and Tillie F. Oberholtzer. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Voelker, brother Richard M. Oberholtzer, brother Robert Oberholtzer, and numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was a very special lady will be missed.
