Robert E. Jack, age 85, was a lifelong resident and public servant of Pennsville, NJ. He died peacefully at his home on May 16, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born in Salem on February 19, 1935 to the late E. Earl Jack and Marguerite E. Jack (Carroll). Upon Robert's graduation from Salem H.S. in 1953, he was hired by Dupont Chambers Works and worked in the Rubber Lab. He became a member of the Electrical Apprenticeship Class of 1957 and worked as a Shift Electrician from 1960-1990 and from 1990-1992, he worked in the Antiknocks area. During his career, Robert also served in the NJ National Guard for 13 years, became a Master Mason and was a member of Penns Grove Excelsior lodge No. 54. Robert married his sweetheart, Jacqueline E. Baldwin, from Alloway, NJ in 1956. He met "Jackie" at the Riverview Beach Park roller rink in Pennsville. Robert and "Jackie" have two children, Eric and Dara. In 1966, Robert followed in his father's footsteps and ran for a seat on the Pennsville Township committee and was the 1st Republican to be elected in 15 years. He then served as Mayor from 1969-1971. After retiring from Dupont, Robert ran again and was reelected to the Pennsville Township Committee and served as Deputy Mayor from 1996-2000 and Mayor in 2001. In 2003, he was appointed as the Pennsville EMS Administrator where he served until 2015. Robert was a lifetime member of the Pennsville Republican Club and former President of the Club. He also served as a County Committeeman until his passing. Robert was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting waterfowl and saltwater fishing with his friends and family and shooting skeet and clay pigeons. He was a longtime member of the Salem County Sportsmen's Club, Ducks Unlimited and the NRA. Robert also enjoyed camping and spent many summers at the Jersey Shore with his family. During the Winter months, he enjoyed snowmobiling in PA, NY and Quebec and travelling South to SC and FL. Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jacqueline; his son Eric Jack and his wife Cori; his daughter, Dara; and 6 grandchildren. A private burial will be held on May 20, 2020. It is the family's hope to hold a memorial service on a later date when gathering restrictions are lifted.
