WIlliam "Bill" A Richardson, age 71, passed away peacefully at Penn Presbyterian Hospital, May 9th, 2020. Born August 8th, 1948 to Thelma P. Parry and Alden "Rich" Richardson. After graduating from Pennsville Memorial High School in 1966, he attended the Culinary Institute of America. On October 17th, 1968 he enlisted in the NAVY-USN aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise (CVA(N)-65). During this time he was awarded several honors including the National Defense and Vietnam Service Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary medal (Korea) and Good Conduct award. After 6 years of service he ended his Naval career on October 16th, 1974. He enjoyed camping, promoting greyhound adoptions, hot air ballooning and his grandchildren. His true love for cooking took him from the Pine Barrens to Maine, but in 1995 he settled in his second home, Hudock's Custard Stand, later retiring in 2015. He was a fixture at the custard stand, always wanting you to try his own specialty - which no one could ever pass up. While working at Hudock's, Bill was a valued member of the family. Everyone would indulge, customers and staff alike; in the delicious meals he would prepare, which always brought a smile to his face. Cooking brings people together, and his passion did just that. His kind and gentle soul is survived by his daughter, Julie A. Costello, son William A Richardson II, grandsons Anthony J. Costello and Liam Maloney. Burial will be made be at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery Pilesgrove. Laughreyfuneralhome.com
