Obituary of Daniel W. Cugler, Sr.

Daniel Wayne Cugler Sr, 77, of Pennsville, NJ, died in Cooper Hospital following a 4 1/2 year battle against pancreatic cancer. He was born January 1, 1943 in Penns Grove, NJ to Dominick Rappa, Jr.(1911-1997) and Mary Anna Powell (nee Hutchinson) (1916-2002). Dan was predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Corinne Ella Cugler (nee Warfield) (1947-1999), a daughter of the late Kenneth G (1911-1999) and Corinne Alberta Banks (nee Chester) (1912-1996) Warfield. Daniel leaves behind the following children: Daniel Wayne (Karen) Cugler Jr. of Irving, TX, Tina Marie (Sean) DeLong of Shillington, PA, and Rona Jan (Kevin) Connelly of Pennsville, NJ. He is also survived by the following siblings: Emma Hall (nee Cugler) of Roscoe, IL, Francis Cugler of St. Cloud, FL and Beverly Russell (nee Hitchner) of Moberly, MO. Daniel was predeceased by his brother, Wilbert Cugler, formerly of Rockford, IL. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Dan also leaves behind his wife, Denise (Nee Pennington) for whom he had an affection in his later years and married just last year. Dan retired a number of years ago from NLB in Mickleton NJ where he worked as the foreman and lead mechanic. In his career, he was best known as an exceptional welder at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Dan was proud to have acquired a large circle of friends that became closer than family. He enjoyed spending his free time building and repairing Harley Davidson motorcycles for his friends and friends of friends. Even during his extended illness, Dan rode his Harley as often as his health permitted. His cherished friend, Billy McGlone, was the gifted Dan's prize bike once he realized he was beyond being able to ride safely anymore. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday Jan 11th at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville NJ where friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 AM prior to the service. Interment will be at Lawnside Cemetery in Woodstown where he will be laid to rest by Corinne's side.
