Lewis B. Zimmerman Jr., age 81, of Pennsville, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 30th, 2019. Born in Pennsville in 1937, he was the son of the late Lewis and Hazel Zimmerman Sr.
Lew was a lifelong Pennsville resident and was married to his wife, Helen, for 59 years.
He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1956-1959. He retired from DuPont as a pipefitter after 33 years and worked construction for 20 years more. He was a long-distance marathon runner; and along with taking care of his family, he also loved being outdoors and making his home and yard pristine. He loved long walks at Fort Mott and taking care of his pets and wildlife.
Survived by two children: Lewis B. Zimmerman III, of Pennsville; and Sherri Lynn Zimmerman, of Pennsville; along with two grandchildren; Travis Rapp and wife Julia of Pennsville; and Lacy McCaffery and husband Patrick of Pennsville; and 5 great-grandchildren: Joseph, Abigail, and Gwendolyn Rapp; and Patrick and Quinn McCaffery. He is also survived by two sisters; Laura M. Phillips and Doris B. Jaeger, both of Florida.
