I will miss my dear friend, Mrs. Catherine Mitchell. What did we have in common? We were both widowed and we both had a love for Bible truths. When Mrs. Mitchell’s husband (who I referred to as Brother Mitchell) fell asleep in death, Mrs. Mitchell and I bonded. I knew the pain of a marriage mate who died and I realized that I could help. I wanted to lend a listening ear if she needed to talk to someone, and talked we did! It became a routine for us to talk, eat meals together, and read our Bible based information. We both found comfort in the Bible and the hope of the resurrection; we looked forward to seeing our loved ones again. When I noticed how fragile she was becoming, I started driving her to her appointments. She enjoyed my going with her…that is until she knew I was telling the doctor and her son of the things that were happening to her - if you could of have seen the look she gave me! Mrs. Mitchell knew I cared about her and that I only wanted what was best for her well-being. In our conversations, she always mentioned her family: her son Daryl (who she often referred to by mistake as “Gordon”), her daughter-in-law Karen, and the individuality of her two smart grandchildren, Shannon and Noelle. She truly loved them all and always spoke highly of them. I am thankful for the time that Mrs. Mitchell and I we were able to help one another. I look forward to the time when I get to see both Catherine and Gordon again. It is a hope and belief that I hold dear. I am confident that Gordon will say, “Thank you for looking after my Kate.”
