Tom passed away peacefully at his home on June 11, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born in Penns Grove, NJ, on May 1, 1945, to William Arthur Herz and Anna Mae Herz (Holton) of Deepwater. He was a resident of Salem County, New Jersey all his life and graduated from Pennsville Memorial High School in 1963. Tom was employed by Chambers Works in Deepwater until entering the Army in 1965 to serve his country in Viet Nam. Tom became a member of the Pennsville Police Department in 1968 achieving the rank of Lieutenant before retiring in 1994. He loved to spoil the family pets, Max (parrot) and Maggie (cat) and will be fondly remembered for making wine and his love of cooking.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Mary (Drew), daughter, Denise Herz (Anne) of California, son, Thomas Herz, Jr., (Sharon) of Chestertown, Maryland, granddaughter, Madison of California, sister, Shirley Coneys (Tom ) of Florida, brother, Robert (Louretta) of Pennsville, sister, Mary Jones of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, brother-in-law, Henry Drew of Pennsville, and nephews, Jeffrey Kirk, Todd Johnson, Jerry "J." Johnson, Robert Herz, Brian Jones, and Kevin Jones. Tom was predeceased by his sister, Marie Johnson.

Services will be private.
