Hubert J. Smigelski Jr., age 84, of Pennsville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Thursday, March 19, 2026. He was born on April 9, 1941, in Baltimore City, Maryland, to the late Hubert J. Smigelski Sr. and Hildegarde C. Bauerle Smigelski.

Hubert was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent many years employed at Aluminum Shapes in Pennsauken, New Jersey, where he worked as a crane operator. Outside of his career, he was an avid farmer who found great joy in working his land. He also had a deep love for baseball and devoted countless hours to coaching his children, grandchildren, and local teams, sharing both his knowledge of the game and his love for it.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Patricia A. Wilczynski Smigelski, who passed away on August 6, 2006.

Hubert is lovingly remembered by his children: Denise M. Smigelski; Patricia A. Smigelski Smith and her husband, Douglas Smith, and their children, Taylor and Dylan; Hubert J. Smigelski and his wife, Michelle L. Troiano Smigelski, and his children, Tyler, Carissa, Cassandra, and Cierra; and Paula J. Smigelski Johnson Shortencarrier and her husband, Jeffrey Shortencarrier, and her children, Derek, Daryan, and Daniel.

He is also survived by his cherished great-grandchildren: Troy, Ryder, June, Greyson, Isla, Aria, Annelise, Hudson, River, and Valley.

Hubert will be remembered as a kind and generous man who was deeply devoted to his family. He found his greatest happiness in time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His dedication extended beyond his family to his farm, where he took great pride in all his plants especially Jersey Tomatoes, and to his faith as a member of the Lutheran Church of Saint Ambrose. He enjoyed coaching and playing baseball and basketball, as well as watching sports especially football along side his loved ones, and he also loved his trips to Florida beaches and Jersey beaches especially Wildwood creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.

In accordance with Hubert's wishes, there will be no funeral or viewing services. Arrangements are being made by Laughrey Funeral Home of Pennsville, NJ.

Hubert's legacy of love, hard work, and devotion will live on in all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
