Sharon M. Sparks Obituary
Sharon M. Sparks, 83, of Newark, DE, formerly of Pennsville NJ, peacefully departed her life surrounded by family on March 3rd, 2026. She was born on October 12th, 1942, in Salem NJ. After graduating from Pennsville High School, and completing nursing school, she dedicated her life to caring for others. She began her career at Salem Hospital where she was a devoted nurse alongside her own mother. She transitioned to caring for others outside of the health field into running a home daycare and raising her children as a stay-at-home mother.
Sharon is survived by her sister Beverly (Simmerman) Godfrey and her husband Thomas Godfrey; her children Susan Cahill (Brian), Deanna Vanderslice (David), and David Sparks (Christina); and six grandchildren: Micheala (Zachary), Connor (Destany), Cole, Kyle, William, and Ethan, along with three great-grandchildren, Reagan, Payton, and Grayson. She was predeceased by her son, William; her father, Melvin Simmerman; her mother, Rebecca (Billings) Simmerman, and her husband of 63 years, William Sparks.
In her free time, she loved to travel and cherished every opportunity to spend time with her family. Of all the roles she held in her life, the one she treasured the most was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. That was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
The family of Sharon M. Sparks invites friends and loved ones to join them in honoring her life. Visitation will take place at The Laughrey's Funeral Home, One North Broadway, Pennsville, NJ 08070 on March 13th, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Funeral services and interment will be held privately for her family.
