Dorothy M. "Dot" Bunting Obituary

Dorothy M. Bunting, (nee Mahoney) 89 of Pennsville, loving, wonderful, caring wife, sister, cousin and adoring aunt went to heaven peacefully January 19th. Dorothy affectionally known as Dot, Sister Dot, Dotsie and Aunt Dot, was born to Frank J and Elizabeth Guerin Mahoney on June 3rd, 1936, at home in her beloved Mahoneyville.

Dot graduated from Salem High School in 1954. She loved growing up in Pennsville, walking in River Beach Park, Mahoney General Store, and fond childhood memories surrounded by family.

She was employed for 25 years as a secretary for DuPont Chambers Works, retiring in 1985. She devoted 30 years of volunteering to Memorial Hospital of Salem County; Dot was a member of the Pennsville Historical Society which was one of her special things to be involved in. She was honored with the Salem County Woman of the year in 2006 and was the Grand Marshall for the September fest parade in 2012, which brought her so much joy. She was a member of the walk and talk program, she would involve her husband, brothers and any family member to join her, they participated in the March of Dimes walk yearly sharing special memories.

Dot never forgot a birthday, anniversary or special memory, her love of family was evident when she made a Tree of Life for our families it was a beautiful tribute that we all cherished. As children she would give us 2-dollar bills, as adults we received the 50 State Quarter Program reflecting history. She made booklets so we knew each other's birth dates and always supported her nieces and nephews. Dot was the family photographer she always captured every photo of our special moments and would text them to us to remember and reflect.

On April 4th, 1959, Dot married the love of her life Charles R. Bunting her beloved Charlie their love was unwavering. They resided in Pennsville their entire marriage, we have fond memories of Christmas Eve and BBQs in the summer, they also resided in Brigantine N.J., their beach house where we all enjoyed fishing, crabbing, beach days and sitting on their dock. One of Dots greatest joys was moving into her Childhood home. Dot took wonderful, loving care of her Charlie right until her sunset. She was Charlie's princess. She was a special lady that we are so proud to call Aunt Dot.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Charles R. Bunting. Her Sister-in-laws Angie Mahoney, Alice Giffin and Kathy Mahoney. Her 29 adoring nieces and nephews, 57 great, and 45 great, great, she will be deeply missed.

She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Elizabeth (Guerin) Mahoney, Brothers Frank, Jim, and Ed Mahoney, Sisters Marie Wyshinski and Elizabeth Dolbow, she loved her siblings unconditionally, family was everything to her.
