Emily F. Messick, age 84 of Pennsville, NJ died Tuesday January 13, 2026 at her residence. She was born in Salem, NJ and was the daughter of the late Wayne A. Fitchett and Mamie Ackley Fitchett.

Predeceased by her brothers, Wayne and Albert Fitchett, sisters, Etta and Mamie. She was also predeceased by her husband Harry Messick in 2003.

She grew up in the Beaver Dam Section of Pennsville where she would walk to the creek fishing with her brothers and bring home catfish for her mother to fry, and she liked to take off on her bike and ride for hours.

In her late teens, she would go cruising with her best friend through Salem and one day stopped to get gas in the car. While getting gas the attendant asked her out on a date and she accepted. On August 16, 1960 Emily married Harry H. Messick at the Deepwater Methodist Church.

Emily is survived by her children, Susan Jacobson and her husband David, Robert and his partner Martin and Edward, grand children, Jessica Kawecki and her husband David, Carey Jacobson, Amber Williams and her husband Steven, Daniel and Joshus along with 8 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
