Charlotte R Kates passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, born on June 18, 1940, she was 85 years old. She is survived by her sons David L Flanigan, Patrick A Flanigan, her brother George Colona and her sister Maryanne Chappel her two grandchildren Brooke Boden, Haley Boden, son in law Bill Boden and many nieces and nephews whom she all loved.

Charlotte is predeceased by her parents George S Colona Jr., Ruth A Colona (nee McFadden),

husband Walter R Kates, daughter Judith A Boden, sister Esther Dalene, brothers Bill, and Rich

Colona.

Charlotte was one of the first graduating classes from Pennsville Memorial High School. She was

a homemaker and raised her three children in Pennsville. After raising her children, she later

became a dietary aid at Salem County memorial hospital, a job she was passionate about, in

which she cared for the parents she served, and staff she worked with. She later volunteered at

the hospital for some time after her dietary aid job.

She enjoyed traveling, cooking, doing arts and crafts and decorating. Charlotte was very well

known in the community, had countless friends and was loved by many. She was generous to

those who knew her. She was a loving caring to her family, friends and all who knew her

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday January 15th at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville, NJ where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Fernwood Cemetery, Bridgeton, NJ
