Harry J. Hooks Jr., a lifelong resident of Pennsville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving Family.
Harry Proudly dedicated over 30 years of his life as an Electrician with Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), working at the Hope Creek Facility in New Jersey before retiring. He was a devoted public servant and community member, serving for several years on the Pennsville School Board and remaining an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for more than 60 years. Through the VFW, Harry continually gave back, offering support and assistance to fellow veterans across the United States.
A Proud Veteran of the Vietnam War, Harry was drafted by the United States Army in 1968. He served honorably until his discharge in 1974 and was a recipient of the Purple Heart for his courageous service to his country. He enjoyed sharing his experiences of Vietnam with family and friends. He found great joy hunting with his brother Bill and treasured the moments he spent with his family and close friends.
Harry is Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Norma J. Hooks of Pennsville, NJ.
He is survived by his loving daughters: Lori Hooks of New Jersey and Nikki Nardo (Jim) of Delaware, his grandchildren, Alexa McGregor of New Jersey, Nicholas Nardo of Pennsylvania, his great grandson, Wraith Parrett of New Jersey. Brother, Eric "Ricky" Hooks (Chris) of Pennsylvania, Brother William Hooks (Dora) of New Jersey, Sister: Kathy Davis of Maryland as well as Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Laughrey Funeral Home on Thursday, January 8th where friends and family can visit at 10am to 11am with services starting at 11am. The burial with a Military sendoff will take place at the Fernwood Cemetery, Bridgeton, NJ following the Services. Family and Friends are invited to gather at the VFW Post in Pennsville after the burial, up until 5pm.
Harry J. Hooks Jr. will be remembered for his service, dedication, strength, and unwavering love for his family, country, and community.
