Kathy, Billy, Ricky and Harry's Children, we are saddened to read of Harry's passing. We had so many cherished memories as children growing up in the 60's. Our Mothers worked together at Town Hall and we had many adventures together; Whale Beach House in Strathmere, NJ, Harry teaching us to swim, fish, chase chickens, fun Halloweens. Life took us all in different directions but Harry and I reconnected at PSEG Nuclear and caught up on our family adventures. He truly loved his family. Please accept our sincere condolences during this difficult time. Charlie Grell & Debbie Grell Shuman.

I met Harry in 2005 when I became a volunteer educator and somehow ended up at a Vietnam Veterans group. They were trying to prove that the instrument used to immunize soldiers had infected many of them with hepatitis C. In other words, they were the underdog, attempting to do the impossible. So I hope that Harry's family members never let the younger generations forget that Harry did the presentation to the FDA that resulted in jet guns (see pic) being taken out of commission. It saved thousands from getting infected. Evidence to support Hepatitis C claims can be found at HCVets, com free of charge. What Harry did will continue helping Veterans.

Q: What will you miss most about Harry?
A: Being his dinky. The best father figure, poppop, and great poppop. Having the answers to all of my questions. The stories he would tell me back when he was a kid. Calling people “chuckleheads” when he got ticked off. Being so helpful to everyone. Calling him to vent. Being an amazing role model. Showing up and being there when no one else would. The “look” he gave instead of yelling. Showing the entire family what love really looked like in a household and being so supportive. Laughing at my son wraith because of his jibber jabber and then would say “I don’t know what you said but okay!” Telling wraith that he needs to buy an F250 and to become an electrician someday. I’m going to miss a lot of things.

My memories of Harry are from an early age when my older brothers (Ray and Elton Essler) were in his friend, hunting and high school graduation group 67/68.
Harry was also a union brother at PSEG. He will always be remembered as a brother to me. My brothers were not there at PSEG but Harry was.
My deepest sympathies and condolences to his families.
He will be missed.
