Gerald Allen Miller, in his 93rd year, of Pennsville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 19, 1932, in Trenton, NJ, Gerald—"Jerry" to friends and "Bebop" to his grandchildren—was the youngest son of the late Joseph Anthony Miller and Catherine Miller. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was rooted deeply in his Catholic faith. He never took off his St. Christopher necklace, a constant reminder of the protection and guidance he trusted throughout his life.
Jerry lived a life marked by service. At just 17 years old, directly out of high school, he joined the United States Coast Guard on July 10, 1950. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. His time in the Coast Guard instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, duty, and integrity that remained with him throughout his life.
After returning home, Jerry began what would become a distinguished 25-year career with the New Jersey State Police. He carried himself with humility, fairness, and steadfast commitment, earning the respect of colleagues and rising to the rank of lieutenant. Law enforcement was a true family calling, and Jerry was proud to serve shoulder-to-shoulder with his four older brothers, who were also members of the New Jersey State Police. His legacy of service did not end with him—his son and grandson followed in his footsteps, continuing a proud family tradition in the New Jersey State Police.
Jerry was married for 64 years to the love of his life, Sandra, with whom he built a home filled with faith, laughter, and devotion. Outside of his service, he found joy in the simple and meaningful things: golfing, gardening, reading, watching sports, and spending cherished time with his grandchildren, who were among the greatest treasures of his life.
Jerry is survived by his wife Sandra, his children Suzanne and Jay, his grandchildren Matthew, Christie, Brooke, Morgan, Joseph, and Jayson, and his great grandchildren Kayden, Mia, and Nadiya.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
May the soul of Gerald Allen Miller, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
