Richard F. Presley, Jr. Obituary

Richard Franklin Presley Jr

May 22, 1950 – May 27, 2025

Richard Franklin Presley Jr. (also known as Butch or Truck to those who knew him best), passed away on May 27, 2025, while doing what he did best, driving his prized possession (his Black Cherry Peterbilt) cross country making a delivery. Born on May 22, 1950, in Jenkinjones, West Virginia to Richard Franklin Presley Sr and Essie Estella Burroughs Lamiette. He was a 1969 Graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School and served in the US Navy in Vietnam.

While Butch wore many hats throughout his career, he spent most of it as an Owner Operator and began Truck and Pup Transportation later in his career. He was a Lifetime Member of the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Assoc. traveling more than 10,000,000 miles throughout the United States and Canada in his Semi. His most recent work was driving for Space 9 Corp, in Lims, Illinois, where he was highly respected for his work and business ethics by those he worked for.

Butch (Truck) was extremely loyal and loved his family and multitude of friends. He never met a stranger. He especially loved his Ride or Die partner, Puppy, a dog that he rescued. Puppy rode shot gun with him for many years and was the “Pup” in Truck and Pup Transportation. Although Puppy passed a few years ago, he continued riding Shot Gun with his best human. Butch would often say, he would much rather spend time with a dog, than with humans. Butch also had a love for motorcycles, especially his Harley and making sure he played the Power Ball and Mega Millions in every state he traveled. While he was unable to make it home to Tennessee that often, when he did, he always made sure to spend time with his extended family and friends. Whether it was having dinner at the local restaurant or having them over so he could make his mean pot of spaghetti. He was most recently looking forward to hanging up the keys to the Semi and moving closer to his family in Nebraska to begin his well-earned retirement.

Besides his parents, Butch was also pre-deceased by his stepfather Richard Lamiette, sisters: Judith “Judy” Goldfarb and Brenda Vaccaro, his great-grandson Paxton Munoz and longtime best friend that he considered his brother, Dennis Johnson.

Butch is survived by his daughter Darlene Marie Miller, his granddaughters Paige Marie Munoz (Alejandro) and Robyn-Lee Devon Johnson, his great grandchildren Augusto “Auggie” and Audrey Munoz, His niece Dina “Shelly” Segal (Steve), his nephews James “Jimbo” Shirley and Franklin Stebbing, his great nephews Edward and Christopher Harrington, his great nieces, Hailey Stebbing and Sarah Mazowieski. He is also survived by his longtime friends/extended family, Joseph Yates, Samantha O’Ryan, Jamie Southworth and Jessica Murphy and many others.

Per Butch’s request, funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

To honor Butch, please consider donating to your “Local” animal shelter or consider adopting a rescue pet in memory of “Truck and Pup”.
