Obituary of Vincent P. McMann, Jr.
Please share a memory of Vincent to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vincent P. "Mickey" McMann, age 81 of Pennsville, NJ, passed away in his home on Thursday June 26, 2025.
Mickey was born in Salem, NJ on September 17, 1943, the youngest child of the late Vincent and Louise (Rescola) McMann. Mickey attended Salem High School, graduating in 1962 and shortly thereafter meeting the love of his life in Salem at a dance hall.
After graduation, Mickey went right into a bustling workforce. He found long term tenure at DuPont in Penns Grove, retiring as a Master Electrician in 2001 just shy of 40 years in order to care for his ailing wife.
He had served faithfully as honorable secretary for the Woodstown Masonic Lodge #138 for over 40 years, earning the record for longest standing Secretary in New Jersey. Mickey actively supported the community around him, not solely through philanthropy efforts and charitable giving to organizations like the Pennsville Little League and the Arc of Salem County, but through the personal relationships he built everywhere he went. He couldn't walk twenty paces without bumping into friends and acquaintances. He was widely known for lending a hand and a kind word to anyone who could use one. He would always bring a smile, and often a pie or fresh fruit from the local farm stand.
From the Pennsville soccer field concessions stand to the 12th NJ Company K Civil War reenactment group events in Gettysburg, Mickey was well known for his genuine hospitality and service to others. He loved to share a good story and enjoy a tasty meal among friends. His passion for people was evident in the way he carried himself in social settings. He was known to be the life of the party, always close to the action.
Never short on personality, Mickey was a proud collector and owner of a cherished 1965 Mustang GT fastback. He appreciated thrill rides (most notably the Tower of Terror) and Michael Jackson, and had enjoyed singing Motown oldies in his signature baritone.
He was a fastidious and orderly man and kept an immaculate home. He was known for his welcoming sense of humor and had a habit of showing up to gatherings early in order to help.
The light he carried for others was perhaps most evident around his family. Nothing made Mickey shine brighter than being around his son and granddaughters, with whom he made many cherished memories.
In addition to his parents, Mickey is preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 39 years, Donna Rae McMann (Allen) as well as brothers Harry (Marie ) McMann Sr., Joseph (Betty) McMann, and sister Mary Acito.
He is survived by a son, Michael (Stacey) McMann, and granddaughters Sophia and Naomi of West Grove, PA, as well as two sisters, Theresa (Howdy) Harris of Quinton NJ, and Rose (Jack) Cobb of Salem, NJ. Additionally, Mickey leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, neighbors, and lifelong friends, too many to name.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday July 9th at 11:00am in Mickey's honor at Laughrey Funeral Home in Pennsville, where friends and family may call from 10:00 to 11:00am. Internment will be privately held.
