Melvin L. McCollum Obituary

Melvin Loy McCollum, age 81 of Quinton Township passed away on June 10, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 28, 1943 in El Dorado Kansas to the late James W. McCollum and Naomi R. Loftin McCollum.

Melvin proudly served his country as an aircraft crew member on the USS Intrepid during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated many years as a welding teacher and as president of the Teachers Union.

Melvin was a devoted husband to Sandra J. Hopman McCollum, a loving father to his daughter Corey and his two sons, Michael and Gary and grandson, Jacob. He is also survived by his brother, Douglas and grandchildren. Above all he treasured the time as a husband and father.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
