David L. Shoemaker Obituary

David L Shoemaker, of Pennsville, born June 8, 1948 passed April 26th after a short illness. Born in Woodbury, NJ to William L and Dorothy H (Forshay) Shoemaker. David lived his entire life in Pennsville.

After graduating from PMHS in 1967 David went on to serve four years in the Navy, during Vietnam War. David returned to Pennsville working for GM in DE on the assembly line, where he retired with over 30 years of service. He also worked for DuPont for a short period of time. In his retirement he was a bus driver for Wyhshinski busing and recently for BR Williams busing.

David enjoyed boating, gardening and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.

David leaves to grieve his passing, his wife of 52 years, Sands (Fithian), daughter, Candice (Josh) Keating, grandchildren Matthew and Trinity Taylor, brother in law Daryl (Sarah) Fithian, mother, Dorothy Shoemaker, sister Carolyn, sister in law Joy Shoemaker. Nephews and nieces, Skylar Fithian, Reagan (Chris) Longo, Garrett (Jeanette) Shoemaker, Gayle (Scott) Cooksey. Great nieces and nephews, Rhya and Grayson Shoemaker, Kendall and Lucas Cooksey.

Predeceased by father, William Shoemaker, father and mother in law, Jerry and Janice Fithian, brother, Gary Shoemaker, brother in law Jerome (Jerry) Fithian.


Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM on Friday May 2nd at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville, NJ where friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Mannington Twp., NJ.
