Obituary of Wilbur E. Ogbin Jr.

Wilbur E. "Willie" Ogbin, age 77, of Pennsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Inspira Hospital in Mullica Hill, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 3, 1947, in Salem, NJ, Willie was the son of the late Lydia and Wilbur Ogbin Sr. of Pennsville. He spent 58 wonderful years with the love of his life, Eleanor "EJ" Ogbin, and was a devoted father to Brian, Chris (Shannon), and John (Charlie) Ogbin. Willie was a proud grandfather to Nicholas Ogbin (Emily), Nathan Ogbin, Noah Ogbin, Jake Ogbin, Wyatt Ogbin, Dr. Sydney Achee, Phoebe Ogbin, and Frankie Ogbin, and a doting great- grandfather to Millie, Libbie, and Sonny. He is also survived by his sisters, Joan Chambers and Sharon (George) Johnson. A Vietnam combat veteran, Willie served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. He was a decorated soldier, earning two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for his bravery and service. Upon returning home, he began a 38-year career as a Pipefitter at DuPont Chambers Works. Willie was a dedicated community volunteer, giving over three decades of his time coaching for organizations such as Pennsville Midget Football, the Pennsville Soccer Association, and especially Pennsville Mini Wrestling. He never missed a match when one of his sons was wrestling. He found great joy in fishing, camping, and trips to the Jersey Shore, but nothing made him happier than spending time with EJ, his children, and his grandchildren. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and cherished every moment with them. He also loved traveling with EJ and the adventures they shared. Willie's warm smile, infectious laughter, and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM on Monday April 28th at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville, NJ where friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 AM prior to the service.
