Obituary of Lois F. Jensen
Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lois Faith Jensen, born January 6, 1959 in Staten Island, NY passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025 at WVU Reynolds Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was 66 years old. Her care at Reynolds was optimum. The care she received there and the Cancer Center by all the staff was amazing, making her feel truly welcome to West Virginia, where she lived only the last few months of her life.
Lois lived a life marked by dedication to her work and cherished memories of her beloved Staten Island. After graduating high school in 1977, she began her professional journeys as a typist and administrative assistant for the State of New York Workers Compensation Board, initially working at the former 2 World Trade Center in Manhattan before transferring to Brooklyn, NY. Her career path led her to the State of Delaware in January 1990, where she served as a secretary for 30 fulfilling years.
Throughout her life, Lois treasured the moments spent on Staten Island, taking in the sights and sounds of the World Trade Center and enjoying peaceful journeys on the Staten Island Ferry. She was the youngest of four children, who were all raised in a Christian home where church activities and ministries were a very large part of their lives. In the last few years of Lois' life, she found great comfort in those memories and listening to the great hymns she often would play on her piano while her dad would sing along.
Lois was a collector of many things, especially history journals, cartoon characters, books and memorabilia. As much as she was a collector she was even more a giver and supported many charities and missions as well as family and friends in need.
Lois was preceded in death by her father, Gustave Jensen, who immigrated from Norway where he was very young, entering the United States through Ellis Island. He was the son of a pastor who started a mission church on Staten Island. Her mother Lena (Dudas) Jensen was of German and Hungarian heritage, whose family assisted in establishing Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Elizabeth, NJ. Lois spoke of many fond memories there. Lois was also preceded by her sister Ruthann Ericksen and brother Thomas Jensen. She is survived by her brother Fred Jensen and his wife Naomi Jensen, as well as nieces and nephews, friends and church family who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will by held 11:00 AM on Wednesday April 30th in Lois' hometown of Pennsville, NJ at the Laughrey Funeral Home where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior the service. Burial of cremains will follow at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown, NJ
