Oh where to start, it’s hard to pick just one memory of David as they all come pouring back with a flood of emotions. David and I first met my freshman year of high school through a
neighborhood friend of mine. David happened to share a class with this friend and they soon became good friends themselves. I saw David several times in passing on his way to our mutual friend’s home, driving his truck with a four wheeler loaded in the back. I however wouldn’t officially meet him until several months later. When we finally met he was driving a huge blue Crown Victoria and remember thinking why is this handsome guy driving a grandpa car, and what happened to the truck? Our first encounter was quite comical, I had to rescue him from our mutual friend’s pet goose that would guard the front porch and attack guests as they approached. David was clearly embarrassed that this girl he had never met was saving him from a goose of all things. I quickly reassured him that he was not the first nor would he be the last and we laughed it off. We would go on to hang out a few times in group settings with mutual friends before quickly connecting over our love for adventure. He would go on to introduce me to his friends in Orlando and we would soon become inseparable for the next few years. We would ride four wheelers, have bonfires in the woods, and go to the beach with our Titusville friends, go to theme parks and parties with his Orlando friends, or just ride around talking and singing to the radio for hours. We would go on to broaden each other taste of music and laugh over how theatrical he could be acting out the lyrics. He would soon discover my decent singing voice and would ask me to sing for him. Often times putting me on the spot in front of others which he knew I hated. Sadly our inseparability would soon come to an end when David decided to move back to Pennsylvania with his mom. I accompanied him on the drive home, and would go on to visit a few more times before settling down, and starting a family of my own. David and I stayed in touch for the next 20+ years and even though long periods of time would pass between us speaking, when we finally spoke it was as if no time had passed at all. My dear friend and so much more, I could go on forever with endless stories but I will leave it here. He will be truly missed, but never forgotten.
Love Always, Jamie
