Obituary of Mark Leigh Mumink

Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mark Leigh Mumink, age 53 of Pennsville passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, March 4 after a short battle with cancer. He is remembered as a loving husband and father, a skilled mechanic, and a reliable and valued friend to many. Mark was born December 24, 1971, in Mannington. Mark is survived by his wife of 28 years Connie. His sons Mark Mumink and Brandon Mumink. One granddaughter Everly Pearl. His mother Charlotte (Sharpe) Valesky and stepfather Steve Valesky. Brother Christopher Mumink. Having had a passion for cars and anything with a motor from a young age, Mark worked as an auto mechanic for most of his life, including many years working at his own business. Mark was the proud owner of Overhaulen Transmission as well Specialized Transmissions. He often helped friends and family with their vehicle issues at no charge. He was always quick to help anyone in need. After he became sick, many of those who visited him at home recounted the ways in which he had helped them when they needed it and the impact that had on them. He never asked for thanks and, in most cases, had never even spoken of his kind deeds. For the last 6 years, Mark was a Mechanic at Hook Equipment. They knew he was extremely knowledgeable about vehicles and all their components and trusted him to treat them fairly and help them with whatever issue they were having. Mark specialized in transmissions. There wasn't one he came across he couldn't rebuild. Mark was generally a man of few words. And with every project he worked on, he was a perfectionist. If he did a job, it was a guarantee it would be done right. If he built something, he built it to last forever. He was a father to two and always worked hard to provide for his sons, made sure they knew he was proud of them, and showed them they were loved by trying to make their lives easier where he was able. He also loved his grand dogs Abigail, Ace Aldis and Eevee Jade. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing at Fort Mott and four wheeling with his boys. He was preceded in death by his father Peter Mumink Sr. as well as his brothers Peter Jr and Bryan. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Friday March 14th at the St. Gabreil the Archangel Parish/Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 369 Georgetown Rd.
