William H. Sparks, 84, of Newark, DE, formerly of Pennsville, NJ, peacefully departed his life on January 27th, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 4th, 1940, in Salem, NJ. After graduating from St. James High School in 1958, he enlisted in the Navy, where he served for four years. Following his military service, Bill worked at DuPont Chambers Works and retired after 34 years. In his free time, both during and after retirement, one of Bill's greatest enjoyments was spending time at the Salem County Sportsman's Club, where he served as President, Chief Cook, and eventually became a lifetime member. He also enjoyed traveling with his family across the country and cherished the memories they made together.

Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sharon (Simmerman) Sparks; his children, Susan Cahill (Brian), Deanna Vanderslice (David), and David Sparks (Christine); and six grandchildren: Micheala (Zachary), Connor, Cole, Kyle, William, and Ethan, along with two great-grandchildren, Reagan and Payton. He was predeceased by his son, William; his father, Herbert Sparks; his mother, Agnes (Izydorczyk) Sparks; and his brother, Thomas Sparks.

William enjoyed fishing in Canada and Fortescue, NJ, as well as camping in upstate New York or at the Shore. He loved shooting pool and playing cards with his friends at the Sportsman's Club. Watching the Phillies and Eagles games, along with enjoying a good happy hour, were also among his favorite pastimes.

The family of William H. Sparks invites friends and loved ones to join them in honoring his life. Visitation will take place at The Laughrey's Funeral Home, One North Broadway Pennsville, NJ 08070 on January 31st, 2025, from 10:00am to 11:00am. Interment will follow at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery.
