Vernon Dutton Congleton, Jr.

Vernon Dutton Congleton, Jr. age 54 died at home in Deepwater, NJ on August 24 2017. He had been battling cancer since September 2015.

Born in Salem, NJ on September 22, 1962 to Vernon Dutton Congleton, Sr. and Jane Anne Newhard Congleton. He graduated from Pennsville Memorial High School in 1980. Vern served in the U.S. Navy onboard USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) from November 1980 to November 1984 where he worked in the deck department and became an illustrator draftsman. He worked various jobs after the Navy, and earned a degree in scientific glassblowing in 1989 from Salem Community College, Carneys Point, NJ

Vern was a member of the Pennsville VFW Post 1952. He Truly enjoyed all the comradery and participating in many events reflecting in patriotism.

Survived by his wife Connie Ann Donelson Congleton, two sons, Bon Congleton and Vern Congleton, III, daughter, Karissa Brank, stepson, David Gray, Jr., stepdaughter, Samantha Gray, five brothers, William Berger, Brian Congleton, Richard Congleton, Andrew Congleton, and Christopher Congleton, 11 grandchildren.

Predeceased by a brother, Randy Congleton.

The family truly appreciated the staff and volunteers at VITAS Hospice for their help and support.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 1:00 PM on Wednesday August 30, at the Finns Point National Cemetery, Pennsville.
