Allene Carr Stoneman, 78, of 50 Sparks Avenue, Pennsville, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 ending a long and courageous battle against the devastating effects of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Mrs. Stoneman was a dedicated wife and homemaker, and she delighted in supporting the many scholastic and extra-curricular activities of her children. An accomplished seamstress, she designed and assembled her daughter's wedding gown and made clothes for her family. One of her favorite pastimes was transforming complicated, 3000-piece puzzles into completed pictures. A native of Ohatchee, Alabama, Allene moved to Carneys Point, NJ with her family in the early 1940's and remained a Salem County resident. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Estel Stoneman; three children and their spouses, Sandra Lee Stoneman McWilliams (Terry), of Louisville, Ky., Wm. Terry Stoneman (Kelly), of Middletown, Del., and Daniel Jeffrey Stoneman (Kristan), of Easley, S.C. She had eight grandchildren: Kyle (Brianne), Megan, Erin and Scott McWilliams, Ashley Stoneman (Andrew) Vernon and Jaynell Stoneman, and Tyler and Avery Stoneman, and three great-grandchildren, Payton and Aubrey McWilliams and Caleb Vernon. She is also survived by her brother, Glenn Carr, of Prattville, Ala. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett D. and Ida Mae Carr, of Ohatchee, Ala. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, One North Broadway, Pennsville, with a memorial service to be held at the same location on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Internment will take place at Grace Lawn Memorial Park in New Castle, Del. The family asks that expressions of sympathy be dedicated in her name to Cure PSP, the foundation for PSP/CBD and related brain diseases, www.curepsp.org.
