Obituary of Mary E. Hoyman

On February 8, 2018, Mary Hoyman died peacefully at the Care Center at Gulf Coast Village in Cape Coral, Florida One of five children (Albert, Agnes, Joe, Mary, Hazel) of Albert and Hazel Kuhnle, she was born on 9/6/1923 in Carneys Point, NJ. After graduating from Penns Grove High School in 1942 she enlisted in the US Navy. While serving in the old Philadelphia Navy Hospital she met her husband, Bill, to whom she was married for 66 years until his death in 2014. Settling in Pennsville she was employed for many years at the Salem County Memorial Hospital and the Anchor Hocking Corporation before retiring in the early 1980s. Following retirement she cared for numerous children after school earning the nickname "Grammy" and also volunteering each election as a poll watcher. After the death of her husband, Bill, she moved to Gulf Coast Village where until just recently she lived independently and remained active among friends. Survived by her son Bill (Sherry) of Cape Coral, FL., and daughter Jan Stephens (Mark) of New Castle, DE, grandchildren Brittany Madden (Ken) and Bret Hankins, great grandchildren Joshua, Jason, Kayla, and Kenard as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 12:00 Noon on Wednesday February 21, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service. Burial with honors will follow at the Finn's Point National Cemetery, Pennsville, NJ. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
