Joseph Whitesell Jr., affectionately known as "Jim" by his friends and family, age 70 of Pennsville, went to be with the Lord peacefully, on October 20th 2010 while surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong Pennsville resident, Jim graduated from Penns Grove Regional High School in 1959, and then served honorably in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis of 1961 and 1962. Jim made his career at DuPont Chambers Works as a Millwright until he retired after thirty three years of employment. He especially enjoyed the company of his friends and family throughout his life. He was a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. Jim was also a proud member of the Servicemen's Memorial Home and the Pennsville VFW Post 1952. He always looked forward to Sunday morning services as an usher for the Trinity United Methodist Church in Pennsville. Jim was an active supporter of the Red Cross as an honored twelve gallon blood donor, and volunteered as a Pennsville midget football and little league coach throughout the late 1970's. Jim was predeceased by his mother Adeline Whitesell, his youngest son John "Jackie" Whitesell, mother and father in-law Lyle and Kathleen Kirk, brother in-laws Mike Krough and Paul Kirk, and his niece Lisa Snell. He is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife of forty nine years Ms. Lillian Whitesell, his father Joseph Whitesell Sr., son and daughter in-law Joseph "Jimmy" Whitesell III and Tammy Lynn Whitesell, sister Katherine Cunningham and her husband Don Cunningham, sister in-law Mary Krough and companion Jack Toms, Godson James "Hog" Hofacker Jr., Grandchildren Michael and his fiance Nicole, Danielle, Kevin, William, great granddaughter Dani Ann Claire, his beloved pets Missy May, TT, and Shadow, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tues. Oct 26, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Burial will be at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
