Joan Annette Dyer
Joan Annette Dyer, aged 85 of Pennsville, departed this life on Thursday, November 30, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Joan was the daughter of Phillip Mateo and Mae Donges, born in Queens, New York on February 21, 1932. Joan was a resident of Pennsville for 59 years. She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph J. Dyer Sr. and son Patrick J. Dyer. Joan is survived by her daughter Debra and husband Bill McGowan of Elsinboro, sons Joseph Dyer and wife Susan of Alloway, Thomas and wife Peggy Dyer of Pilesgrove and John Dyer of Pennsville. Joan was the nana to nine grandchildren and the adoring nanny to three great grandchildren. Those who knew "Joanie" would reflect upon a spirited, outspoken woman, with a tender heart of gold.
Joan was diligent in serving the community of Salem County. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years, gladly serving those in need, bring a feisty smile to whom she assisted. She proudly volunteered on the Septemberfest Committee year after year; eventually taking a turn as parade marshal. Joan was a tireless member on the Pennsville Republican Club for nearly 40 years. Active in the Catholic Church, she served on the Alter and Rosary Society. Joan was also a participant in the Woman's Club of Pennsville; she was elected president by the members.
Joan lived a life of service to her family, friends and community. She gave of herself in many honest and loving ways. Joan would have appreciated, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Salem County, an agency that is so vital to her beloved community.

Viewing will be held Monday, December 11, 2017 from 7-9pm at Laughrey Funeral Home, One North Broadway, Pennsville. Mass will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 10am at Corpus Christi Church, 369 Georgetown Road Carney's Point. Finally, she will be laid to rest, next to her loving husband Joseph, in the Salem County Veteran's Cemetery. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
