Walter C. Johnson, age 71 of Pennsville died Wednesday August 30, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Tarrytown, New York and was the son of the late Carl and Idele Ackerman Johnson Madden. He worked for the DuPont Company in security, a fireman and in operations at several locations including Chambers Works in Deepwater, he also worked as a surveyor for Skinner & Compton, of Bridgeton, and Hartman & Associates, Inc., Camp Hill, PA and Dewberry Associates, Fairfax, VA. Walter was a 10 year Vietnam Marine Corps Veteran serving two tours in Vietnam where he received his two purple hearts. While in Vietnam he work in demolition and later served in the military police. He was also a 35 year member of the Pennsville VFW Post 1952 and the Pennsville American Legion Post 297. He served as senior vice commander at the VFW and service officer of both the VFW and American Legion. Survived by his wife, Judith A. Smith Johnson, Denise Scott and her husband Tom of Oceanside, CA. Predeceased by a son, Steven Johnson, brother, Michael Madden. Funeral services are private at the convenience of the family.
