Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Lee Patrick, 75, of Pilesgrove, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on June 30, 2017 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Richie is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Viola; passing on their 55th wedding anniversary. Additionally, he is survived by his daughters Doris (Christopher) Johnson and Heather (Timothy) Rhodes; grandchildren Danielle, Erica, Richard, Riley, Vaughn, and Alana; brother Wayne (Barbara) Patrick; sister Cindy (Gregory) Weigle, and many nieces and nephews. Richie was pre-deceased by his parents, George and Mildred Patrick, and brother, Larry Patrick. Richie graduated from PMHS in 1961, where he shined as a football and basketball stand-out. He went on to establish a career as a rigger foreman with the DRBA, from which he retired after nearly thirty years of service. Though you may better remember Richie for his talents as a cook at Travaglini's Restaurant, where he spent many a night and weekend whipping up spaghetti and gnocchi. After retirement, Richie went on to spend twenty years working with his family at the Curry Construction Company. Richie was an avid collector of sports memorabilia and delighted in sharing his collection with others. He loved collecting seashells on the beaches of Florida with his wife, spending time by the pool with his children and grandchildren, cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies, and riding his lawn mower every chance he got. Richie was a friend to everyone and delighted in small acts of great kindness. He will be remembered for his devout dedication to his family, resolute strength of character, and unyielding sense of compassion. Services will be held at the Laughrey Funeral Home, 1 N Broadway, Pennsville, NJ. on Friday, July 7 at 10:00am where friends may call Thursday evening from 7-9pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the PMHS Football Team. Please make checks payable to PEPAA; mailing address PO Box 263, Pennsville, NJ 08070. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
