Obituary of Marion N. Owen

Marion Norman "Joe" Owen, age 74 passed away Thursday June 22, 2017. He was born in Waynesville, NC to the late Norman and Lucille Messer Owen. Joe was a graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School and he was a longtime resident of Pennsville. He worked as a glassblower at DuPont for many years and later opened up Joe Owen's Machine and Radiator Shop on Hook Road. He was most recently employed at Advance Auto Parts in Salem, NJ and AT-Mar Glass Inc. in Kennett Square, PA. Joe is survived by his wife Phyllis of Pennsville, daughter Tracy Owen Valichka and her husband William of Chesapeake City, MD; grandson Andrew Valichka of Chesapeake City, MD. He is also survived by 3 step children: Sharon Johnson of Elyria, Ohio, Kathie Jameson of West Chester, PA and David Johnson of Wilmington, DE, 4 step grandchildren; Amber and Darian Johnson and Douglas and Christopher Jameson and 3 step great grandchildren Wesley, Reilly and Aurora. Joe was predeceased by his father Norman "Nott" and mother Lucille Owen as well as many aunts and uncles in NC. Funeral Services will be held 10 am Wednesday June 28, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Burial will be at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to your favorite charity in memory of Joe.
