Obituary of Bennie B. Buckner

Bennie B. Buckner, 62, of Pennsville, N.J. went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was the son of Clyde and Verna Buckner and was born in Waynesville, N.C. in 1949. The family moved to N.J. in 1952. He was predeceased by his dad in 2008. Bennie served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1975. He loved his family very much. He also enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques, and his music. He came from a musically-talented family, and won third place in the New Jersey Battle of the Bands with his first band, The Caprice. He was a member of many other bands, including New Zion, The Robert Mule Band, Common Brothers, Godsong, and most recently The Cartunzz. He especially enjoyed playing music with his family. His final band included himself, his son Benjamin, and his daughter-in-law Allison. Bennie is survived by his wife Judy (Sutton), mother Verna, children Shannon, David, Benjamin, and Allison (McCord). He is also survived by siblings Terry and Lori (Buckner) and Connie and Kelly (Legg), five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday March 25, at the Sharptown United Methodist, Pilesgrove where friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial with honors will follow at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Pilesgrove.
