Dorothy Mae Carlson, age 82 of Pennsville went home to be with the Lord on Monday October 11, 2010 at the Carney's Point Care Center. She was born in Salem and was the daughter of the late James E., Sr. and Nettie Lamblack Fithian. Dot was a lifelong Salem County resident. She was a 1945 graduate of Salem High School and following graduation she graduated from the Pierce Business College in Philadelphia, she then went to work at the DuPont Chambers Works in Deepwater for 10 years. She was a bookkeeper for the family business (Carlson's/Esso/Auto Parts in Pennsville for many years. She was a member of the Park Bible Baptist Church, Pennsville where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years, and a member of the Daughters of America. Survived by her husband of 57 years Melvin D. Carlson, son, Gary L. Carlson and wife Lorri of Pennsville, and a daughter, Janet M. Bowman and husband Dave of Bend, OR, sister, Anna Yount of Pennsville, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Predeceased by a brother, Lt.,Col. James E. Fithian, Jr.Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday Oct. 16, at the Laughrey Funeral Home Pennsville where friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
