Marguerite Stretch Hyatt (nee Johnson) age 94 of Cedar Crest Manor, Carney's Point died Tuesday December 14, 2010 at home. She was born near Salem, NJ to the late Howard and Hazel Johnson and in 1920 they moved to a farm in Lower Penns Neck. Marguerite graduated from Pennsville grade school and then from Salem High School in 1933. After graduation, she was employed at the DuPont Die Works (DuPont-Deepwater Chambers Works) and retired in 1970. Marguerite traveled in the US, Alaska, Canada, Europe and South America. Her hobbies included hand work and playing bridge. She was an active member of the Deepwater United Methodist Church, a member of the Oak Tree Chapter of the NJ DAR, a member of the Woman's Club of Penns Grove and Carney's Point and a past volunteer at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County. Marguerite is survived by her husband, Joseph.; brother, Raymond B. Johnson, Sr.; two stepdaughters; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Lewis Stretch (1997), and brothers William Harold Johnson and Howard Harris Johnson, Jr. Services will be private with burial at East View Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deepwater United Methodist Church, Deepwater, NJ 08023, First Baptist Church of Pedricktown, Pedricktown, NJ 08067 or a charity of your choice.
